COORDINATED ASSESSMENTS

Training Materials

To strengthen the humanitarian community’s capacity to build a more accurate and standardized picture of needs in the aftermath of an emergency, the NATF together with the Information Management Task Force (IMTF), has developed a number of training materials which serve as the foundation of capacity building programmes.

These include:

  • A short induction package designed to familiarize stakeholders with the fundamental concepts of the IASC coordinated assessment approach, most notably the IASC Operational Guidance on Coordinated Assessments and the Multi-Cluster/Sector Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA). This package includes a short briefing note on both documents.
  • A longer and more detailed package of training materials designed for people that will be implementing the coordinated assessment approach at either cluster/sector or inter-agency levels. This 3 – 5 day training package includes detailed information on the Operational Guidance and the MIRA, guidance on how both tools may be customized to different country contexts, and instruction on specialized skills and knowledge such as questionnaire design, sampling and site selection, assessment planning etc. It includes simulated scenarios and desk-top exercises aimed to strengthen learning. It also includes Training of Trainers modules.
